Wizard of Oz

Staff -- Interior Design, 5/1/2002 12:00:00 AM

The Sydney Opera House Trust has appointed Joern Utzon, the original designer of the celebrated concert hall, to consult on the building's interior renovation proposals. The Danish architect, in collaboration with his son, Jan Utzon, has drafted a statement of design principles outlining and addressing the building's future needs, including improved access to the entrance, extension of the orchestra pit, and upgraded acoustics. At press time, a construction schedule for the project, budgeted at 24.1 million Australian dollars, had not been set.
