Splat!

edited by Craig Kellogg -- Interior Design, 5/1/2006 12:00:00 AM

Last year, a competition held by Pratt Institute and Umbra landed two student designers in the company's catalog. This year's winners, announced during the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York, include a doorstop by DesignGO, a trio composed of industrial-design majors Peter Pracilio, 27, Mino Kodama, 20, and Ian Collings, 20. "We weren't doing it for the instant gratification of fame sophomore year," Pracilio says. Nonetheless, their names are in print. And though the doorstop isn't guaranteed a place in the next Umbra catalog, the molded-rubber design already has an official name: Door Splat.
