Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann arrives at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art with a lush presentation of sumptuous materiality, alluring lines, and flawless construction. "Ruhlmann: Genius of Art Deco" examines the designer's all-encompassing oeuvre, from interiors to furniture, lighting, ceramics, carpets, and brightly colored abstract textiles. Included in the 225 pieces from the 1920's are a pair of lamps in glass and silvered bronze, a table in gilded bronze and rosewood, and a sideboard in Macassar ebony, ivory, and marble.
