Brooklyn Designs Sets 2006 Dates

Deadline for exhibitor applications is December 19.

Meaghan O'Neill -- Interior Design, 12/15/2005 12:00:00 AM

Brooklyn Designs, the annual show featuring Brooklyn-based contemporary designers and manufacturers, will return to DUMBO this coming May. The fourth annual, three-day expo, which includes the borough’s coolest furnishings, rugs, lighting, and accessories, will run May 12-14 at several locations, including St. Ann’s Warehouse.

Timed to coincide with the beginning of New York’s Design Week--America’s answer to Milan’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile--Brooklyn Design’s attracts thousands of visitors to DUMBO, the borough’s hub for cutting-edge design.

Once again, the program will include a jury of design-industry professionals who will select the very best work from the show. An expanded series of events, which in the past has included panel discussions and symposiums, will also take place throughout DUMBO. A special focus on eco-friendly production materials and products will also be emphasized this year.

“Our curated show is a chance for all the buyers, design professionals, and consumers that make the trip to New York for Design Week to see what’s happening in local studios and workshops that are setting home furnishings trends worldwide,” says Kenneth Adams, president of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, host of the event.

A call for exhibitors is currently under way. Brooklyn-based manufacturers and designers interested in participating can download the 2006 application form at the Brooklyn Designs Web site  (pdf). A jury made up of leading design professionals, including Interior Design market editor Karen Singh, will review exhibitor applications, which are due by December 19.
