Here's this week's roundup of who’s doing what, where in the design community.

Mary O’Connor is director of architecture and design, Western region for furniture manufacturer Haworth. O'Connor is now responsible for the creation of educational and marketing programs with architects and designers.

Anj McClain, market researcher at sustainable design firm Tricycle, has been appointed to the board of directors of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) East Tennessee chapter.

Steve Gane, long-time president of furniture manufacturer HBF and HBF Textiles, has resigned as chief operating officer of furniture manufacturer Thomasville, HBF’s parent company, and part of International Furniture Brands.

Steven J. MirmanInterior design firm HOK Interiors in Washington, D.C., has four senior staff additions to its interior design studio: Steven J. Mirman, Vincent Ng, Donna K. Sharpe, and Amy Benczik Fabry.
 
Architecture, planning, and interior design firm FXFOWLE Architects has announced five promotions. Carl Hauser and John J. Loughran move up to senior associate. Biju K. Chirathalattu,Stefan Dallendorfer, Brian J. Fanning, and Heng-Choong Leong are now associates.

Amy Wilt and Brandi Markiewicz are on board the interior design team at Rink Design Partnership, a full service architectural, interior design, and landscape design firm.

Brian G. Thornton, vice president of communications on the international board of directors for the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), has been named director of design of MGM/MIRAGE Design Group in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

Interior designer Darryl Carter joins the design team of the Urban Electric Company, which specializes in the design, manufacture, and distribution of lighting fixtures for residential, commercial, and public venues. 

Mia SchipaniMia Schipani is director of business development for Waldner’s Business Environments, which represents furniture manufacturers Steelcase and Kimball.

Office furniture manufacturer Trendway has appointed Mark L. Dlugolecki vice president of sales. Dlugolecki will oversee all Trendway sales activity.

Christine Dzus
joins KnollTextiles, the textile arm of furniture manufacturer Knoll, as sales representative for South Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean, including Puerto Rico.

Laura Sauter joins the Boston office of design, planning, and strategic consulting firm Gensler as environmental graphic design manager.

Tim Groves joins furniture manufacturer Gunlocke as business development manager.

Dr. Peter Schertz is the new curator of ancient art at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
