Kimball Office has picked up LEED for Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI) from the U.S. Green Building Council for its team rooms in the Product Design & Research Center in Jasper, Indiana. Conceived in partnership with TVS Interiors, the 13,000-square-foot space serves the office furniture manufacturer's product development teams.
The rating insures the rooms meet sustainable criteria and have less of an impact on the environment--over 85 percent of the project's waste was recycled. The design includes local, recycled, and rapidly renewable materials and taps natural light. Paints, adhesives, carpets, and composite wood materials contain no or low VOC's. As part of the company's long-term commitment, a green housekeeping program was initiated.
"We saw this project as an opportunity to redesign a portion of an existing facility so that it aligned with our sustainability practices," says Douglas Prickett, director of sustainable design for Kimball Office. "How we manage the use of material in the design of our products to how we design our buildings demonstrates our genuine concern about the impact we make on the environment."
TVS Interiors also designed Kimball Office's silver-certified Chicago showroom and gold-certified Jasper, Indiana showroom.
We would love your feedback!
