iDesignCarpet.com Creates Virtual Carpet Samples

The new site allows designers to test virtual samples from Beaulieu Commercial's brands.

Designing carpet just got a fun new twist with the introduction of an online carpet design tool from Adairsville, GA–based Beaulieu Commercial that helps designers create virtual samples that can be viewed in a variety of room settings.

idesigncarpet.com lets users view, customize and print carpet samples. Site visitors can select a style from the company's three commercial brands: Cambridge Commercial, BOLYU Contract or Aqua Hospitality Carpets. Carpet samples can be tested out in corporate, education, hospitality, institutional and retail room scenes.

With its tongue-in-cheek personality—admonishing users to "go get some coffee, take a bathroom break, call your mother or just stare at the moving green dots" as it loads some applications—the site places a premium on constructing carpet samples quickly.

"Because it works in real time, idesigncarpet.com is the next generation of carpet simulation," says Beaulieu director of marketing Cathy Mansour.

Here's how the process works: After selecting a style, designers can place it in a room scene and view it in existing or custom colors. Each style's color is also displayed with virtual yarn poms. The site also allows users to view the sample in multiple angles and scales.

The site boasts a green connection, too. Beaulieu states that replacing traditional carpet strikeoffs with printed samples early in the planning process eliminates some of the manufacturing waste and discarded samples that would otherwise go to landfills.

Visit the site at www.iDesignCarpet.com, or access it from the Beaulieu Commercial website at www.beaulieucommercial.com.
