She Reigns in Spain

edited by Sheila Kim -- Interior Design, 7/1/2004 12:00:00 AM

Hot on the heels of this year's Pritzker Prize, Zaha Hadid Architects has landed a coveted commission to design EuskoTren's headquarters in Durango, Spain. Slated for a 2008 completion, the seven-story complex exhibits the sculptural forms for which Hadid is known, combining concrete construction with expanses of glass and steel. The $182 million project encompasses a railway station, offices, a park, and a subterranean commercial center punctuated by a series of skylights. A bridge connects the railway station's central platform to all means of egress.
