Six culinary retreats came out on top in the American Institute of Architects/Los Angeles Chapter's (AIA/LA) third annual Restaurant Design Awards. Honoring restaurant design both in the Los Angeles area and projects outside of the city by Los Angeles-based individuals and practices, the 2007 awards program had 14 finalists.
A jury of industry professionals included architect and interior designer Josh Schweitzer of Schweitzer BIM; graphic designer Hillary Jaye of Sussman/Prejza & Company; chef and restaurateur Nancy Silverton; and Ann Gray, publisher of FORM Magazine.
This year, nearly 2,000 votes piled in for the People's Choice Award.
"We had more participants than ever this year and expect the competition to continue to gain traction with each year," says associate director of AIA/LA Carlo Caccavale.
