While the winners of the 2006 Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design won’t be announced until the awards breakfast on November 13, we serve up a look at the nominated properties, as well as a few snapshots of hospitality projects by the Gold Key Designer of the Year, David Rockwell, in our online slide show.

The competition yielded 20 finalists—whose nominated projects span the globe from San Francisco to Rome to Hong Kong—in the categories of: Hotel, Lobby/Reception, Bar/Lounge, Fine Dining, Casual Dining, Guest Room, Suite, and Spa. Judging this year were John Bricker, principal of Gensler; Carol Rusche Bentel, partner at Bentel & Bentel; Sam Kapadia, Doubletree Metropolitan Hotel executive director; Tony May Group president Tony May; and Ellis O’Connor, manager for Peninsula New York. The annual awards program is presented by the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show, with sponsors Interior Design and Hotels.
