Promosedia 2008

If you’re under 40, enrolled in architecture or design school, and have a great idea for a chair -- have we got a contest for you. It’s time once again to gather those feasibility drawings and throw your seat into the ring for the 13th annual Promosedia International Design Competition.

Nube chair Tomas AlonsoEntries must be submitted by May 5 to be considered for the award, which is conferred upon an original, unpublished chair design that makes significant use of wood. Setting it apart from many of its peers, the competition also requires that designs be suitable for mass production.

This year, the winning designer will bag a prize of 3,500 euros, the rough equivalent of $4,500 in the U.S. An awards ceremony is scheduled to coincide with Promosedia's annual International Chair Exhibition, running from September 13-16 in Udine, Italy, where the winning design will be featured in a prototype exhibition.
