Two staffers from the Boston office of full-service design firm Gensler recently received recognition. Architectural designer Alexander Fernandez has been awarded a MacDowell Colony Fellowship for the month of December. Through the fellowship, he will be an artist in residence at the Peterborough, New Hampshire colony. Principal Jeanne M. Nutt has been recognized in Women’s Business Boston’s November 2006 issue as one of the region’s “Top 10 Architects/Interior Designers.”
Steve Frykholm, vice president of creative design for furniture manufacturer Herman Miller, was named AIGA Fellow by the AIGA, a professional association for design. He is the first to earn the honor in the state of Michigan.
The Government Services Administration (GSA) has named Richard Hayden, managing partner of architecture and design firm Swanke Hayden Connell Architects, a Peer Professional. Recognizing design excellence, the public/private GSA partnership is implemented to improve the quality of federal architecture.
Furniture manufacturer KI has three new hires. Nat Porter is vice president of education markets; Mike Watson is vice president of national accounts; and Kristin Yates is vice president of business markets.
Furntiture manufacturer Ahrend, based in Amsterdam, has named Chris Grover vice president. Grover will work directly with furniture manufacturer Allsteel, Ahrend’s North American distribution partner, to spearhead U.S. sales and marketing
Bryan Durkis is Southeast regional sales manager for furniture manufacturer Trendway .
The AIA New York Chapter has posthumously awarded Edward Larrabee Barnes the national 2007 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal.
Judy Robbins is sales and marketing director of textile manufacturer Silver State.
J. Todd James is vice president of North American sales for furniture manufacturer Haworth. Formally of Bentley Prince Street, James will provide leadership for sales efforts in North America.
Cory Hunnicut joins full-service architectural design firm Thomas E. Hall & Associates, based in Wayne, Pennsylvania, as director of interior design.
