Vladimir Kagan returns to the New York showroom scene with a new space at the New York Design Center.

Vladimir Kagan has come home. Truth be told, he never left. But since 1987, when he closed his namesake showroom to focus on mass-produced residential furnishings, New York’s design map has been one landmark short.

All that ended when Kagan opened Vladimir Kagan Couture, a 2,000-square-foot New York Design Center showroom by Luigi Gentile. Featured is a 20-piece range of new and classic Kagan pieces sporting his brand-new Kagan Textiles.

Fans will immediately spot his modular-minded Omnibus series from the 1970’s, still shockingly relevant. They’ll also meet his new Shorty sofa, its voluptuous curves as much a Kagan signature as his own furrowed eyebrows. And though it’s been nearly 60 years since his first showroom opening, Kagan keeps his to-the-trade renaissance in perspective. As he puts it, “This is what I adore to do.”
