Last year, Zaha Hadid wowed Innsbruck, Austria, with her ski jump. She reaches another peak as the first female architect to complete a U.S. museum, Cincinnati's Lois & Richard Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art. The 87,000-square-foot volume is distinguished by a lobby whose cement back wall curves down to form the floor, then extends past the facade to become sidewalk. The inaugural exhibition, "Somewhere Better Than This Place: Alternative Social Experience in the Spaces of Contemporary Art," presents work by 39 artists, from photographer Vanessa Beecroft to installation artist Cai Guo-Qiang. May 31–November 9; 513-345-8400; contemporaryartscenter.org.
