Mini Me

Karen D. Singh, Craig Kellogg -- Interior Design, 3/1/2006 12:00:00 AM

First there was the standard Torni washbasin, which stands 34 inches high with an 18-inch diameter. Then manufacturer Durat asked designer Mick Brundel to create a child's version, just 27 inches high and 14 inches across. Ideal for public spaces and institutional applications, both sinks are circular in more ways than one: The molded polyester-resin solid surfacing that makes up the fixtures' pedestal contains 50 percent recycled content, and the material is recyclable at the end of its life, too. Blue and red are among 46 standard colors—that's almost as many as a jumbo box of crayons. Frame and base are stainless steel. 4 Huhdantie, 21140 Rymättylä, Finland; 358-2-252-1000; durat.com. circle 323
