The Great Dane

The revered Danish design houseFritz Hansen has updated an old favorite. VicoDuo, a lively stacker from 1997, returns with a wafer-thin laminated shell of molded walnut, molded beech, or painted ash veneer in green, orange, red, and five other colors. Or opt for upholstery in leather or standard fabrics. The base is satin-finished chrome.

The Plano table, meanwhile, is a six-year-old design that still looks fresh. Its rectangular, square, or round top, in MDF veneered in lacquered maple, seems to float above legs of steel and zinc.

Despite the retro pose, Morten Voss's Attitude lounge chair and cocktail table are both brand-new. Each perches on a pedestal base of powder-coated steel with either a matte or a rough silver-gray finish. The chair, which can be upholstered in leather or standard fabrics, measures 28 inches high and wide by 30 deep. Aero Dynamic

Sacha Lakic has designed cars for Peugeot, motorcycles for Yamaha, Bimota, Voxan, and Kawasaki, and a sexy electric sports car, called Fétish, for Venturi. The French designer's résumé also lists yachts and futuristic sailboats for private clients. Now he's shifted gears with a furniture collection, his first, for Roche Bobois.

The Speed Up buffet's acrylic-resin front, detailed with a pleasing swoosh, glides open with the lightest of touches. And the Speed Up dining table's base, in automotive-grade fiberglass and lacquered carbon fiber, has the horsepower to support a top of 1/2-inch-thick glass, cut into a 62-inch-long triangle with rounded corners. A similarly shaped cutout punctuates the Woody stacking chair's sinuous seat of molded wood composite, which comes veneered in stained wengé or painted.

On the Street

Streetsport, a line of upholstery fabrics from Carnegie, takes its cue from skateboard culture. This youthquake of a collection is bursting with the energy of extreme sports, giving nods to graffiti, Goth, and rap along the way.

The jangly lines of Adrenaline illustrate the rush that comes from doing an "acid drop" or a Caballerial; among the seven colorways in rayon-polyester are orchid, sangria, spinach, and pomegranate. The grittier Face Time, a solution-died Zeftron nylon in chill colorways such as Ozure, places men's and women's mugs behind chain-link fence. The circles of Beat Box, a blend of rayon and polyester, renders boom-box speakers in color options that include khaki, coral, camouflage, and charcoal. Named for the trick of snapping the tail of a skateboard down to pop it into the air, Ollie is a polyester-linen blend featuring a convergence of diamonds in five colorways: brick, bonfire, slate, bronze, and steel. The collection is rounded out by two polyester-acrylic blends, Freestyle and Grip.

It's teaming up with Fine Paints of Europe to launch a line of paints richly laden with the finest pigments, oils, and resins. To provide the greatest accuracy, depth, and coverage, the paint is tinted using a proprietary system with two separate dispensers, one for water-based acrylics and one for oils.
