Outer Space, Inner Space

Mark McMenamin -- Interior Design, 1/1/2008 12:00:00 AM

Jean-Michel Crettaz is principal of the enthusiastically named architecture firm Slap! He also heads the visual-studies program at SCI-Arc, where his firm is setting up Quasar. Constructed from acrylic membranes embedded with LEDs, this "immersive space," as he describes it, reacts in real time to the sun's flares and muons, translating them into light and sound. January 25–March 9; 213-613-2200; sciarc.edu.
