O'Hare & D'Jafer reinvents chandelier styling with a new material: Vegetable-tanned leather, enlivened by crystal-shape dangling cutouts, is stitched together with contrasting leather. The Napoleon, which accepts four 25-watt incandescent bulbs, measures 49 inches in diameter, with a 53-inch drop. The Mix Master

Appealing to globe-trotters and time travelers alike, powerhouse Andrew Martin's rapidly expanding Essentials range makes creating a cohesive aesthetic seem easy. "Fusion interiors are not about simply throwing together disparate elements and hoping they work with one another," managing director Martin Waller says of this jaunty, highbrow combination of objects. "There is, of course, a welcome informality to contemporary interiors. The rules are fluid and changing."

As the collection evolves, more is the new less. Colors are brighter, textures lusher, and patterns stronger, while smoky colors and mirrored surfaces continue to play a part. Think Gothic to deco, pagoda to château.

The company's love affair with leather manifests itself in the stretched top of the Thai drum table as well as in the Rebel Stars and Stripes sofa, a flag painted on the back's tufted distressed leather. Seating goes swanky in a George-Jetson-meets-Arne-Jacobsen kind of way with the Collins swivel chair in black lacquer, poised on a five-prong chromed-steel base. Reminiscent of steamer trunks that might have traveled on the Orient-Express, a checkered chest of drawers is made in either chrome or leather. Traditional Anatolian wool flat-weaves inspired the covering of the Kilim chest, cube, and trunk.

Accessories and lighting also get into the action. A silvery ceramic ginger jar stands 20 inches high. A tribute to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, the Verne lamp looks like a treasure from the bottom of the ocean.
