Houston's Design Fair 2010 to Run April 21-25  

As part of the event, Interior Design Hall of Famer Lauren Rottet will present a free lecture on the future of design at Decorative Center Houston.

Houston Lawndale Art Center Design Fair 2010: Learn. Shop. Connect.The A&D scene will be heating up Houston when the Lawndale Art Center presents "Design Fair 2010: Learn. Shop. Connect.," in the Texas city from April 21 to 25.

Formerly known as the 20th Century Modern Market, the event will showcase vintage modern objects at the organization's space on Main Street in Houston's Museum District. Everything from 20th Century furniture, lighting, glass ceramics, and metalwork to books and fashion will be for sale. Dealers including Coronation Vintage, Exquisite Corpse Booksellers, and the Lush Life will be on hand for the five-day event.

Along with a new name, event will also be introducing the Texas Co-Op this year, a presentation of the Lone Star State's best object designers curated by local retail legend  Mickey Rosmarin, owner of the woman's fashion chain Tootsies. Rosmarin has already corralled designers like Kelie Mayfield, Paul Fleming, and David Tsai to present at the co-op.

A couple of ancillary events will surround the fair, including a free lecture by Interior Design Hall of Famer and hometown hero Lauren Rottet on the future of design at the Decorative Center Houston on April 21. A preview party for the fair will take place April 23 and the shopping will continue all weekend on April 24 and 25. Tickets for both events will benefit the Lawndale Art Center, a non-profit organization.
