Call him the comeback king—Alexander Girard is popping up everywhere. That's partly thanks to Built, a company founded by two Cranbrook Academy of Art grad students and best known for pushing neoprene beyond wet suits. . .to wine totes and more. Three of Girard's patterns now adorn five Built products, available currently at New York's Mxyplyzyk and in February worldwide. Also in stores next year, the Electra Bicycle Company's Amsterdam Girard 3i bike offers a ride down Modernity Lane with five seat and frame patterns designed by Girard in the 1950's, '60's, and '70's, when he was head of textiles at Herman Miller.

From top: A neoprene phone sleeve, laptop sling, digital case, and bags by Built flaunt Alexander Girard's patterns January, Retrospective, and La Fonda.
