Chips off a Bold Block

Design transcends discipline. Before he founded Sieger Design in 1964, Dieter Sieger was trained as a builder, but worked as a self-employed architect while he studied at the Werkkunstschule Dortmund. After 15 years of creating award-winning designs for family housing, he began focusing on the interior design of yachts, followed by creation of Bauhaus-inspired kitchen and bath hardware and fixtures. Jumping from the external to the internal, the patriarch strengthened his reputation via an ever-evolving, sleek aesthetic.
Like father, like sons. Michael and Christian Sieger have followed in their father's footsteps, perpetuating a family tradition of cosmopolitan taste grounded in historical context. Their work has grown to encompass industrial, product, and graphic design, as well as marketing and publicity work.
Exemplifying Sieger's lifestyle element is theMy China! line. Treasures, a sub-category of the line, offers white porcelain trimmed or lined with platinum or 24-karat gold. This decadent ensemble includes the Matroschka egg cup in platinum, certain to upgrade any soft boiled egg, but perfect for Beluga caviar.
A limited-edition tea service, Ciel Bleu, adds a touch of whimsy to the otherwise elegantly spare collection, giving the phrase “High Tea” a whole new meaning: It is emblazoned with fluffy white clouds printed on a sky-blue ground and trimmed in gold. The tableware seamlessly complements the chrome and curves of Sieger hardware, including the LuLu and Tara.Logic faucets from Dornbracht. The FB.RL 800 and WT.RX325Q sinks from Alape, the Element spa also from Dornbracht, and the 2nd Floor collection for Duravit overflow with chiseled good looks. Tongue in cheek, the Holstein-spotted Milk glass from Ritzenhoff makes for a more reasonably priced piece from this up-market blend of fine functionality. 49-5426-94920; sieger-design.com. circle 701
