Carnegie Takes Three Awards at HD 2006

The textile manufacturer took honors in the Upholstery and Drapery categories.

Meaghan O'Neill -- Interior Design, 5/11/2006 12:00:00 AM

Innovative textile manufacturer Carnegie's time and efforts at the Annual Hospitality Design Expo and Conference in Las Vegas have paid off. The brand was awarded three Product Design Awards at the show, which ran April 26 through 29, and featured about 1,000 exhibitors.

Tattoo, a collection of designs that embrace the art of tattooing, took the prize in the Textiles: Upholstery category. The woven upholstery fabrics explore graphical foundations from tribal to pop culture via six different patterns. With an open-net style that isn’t woven, Malta and Capri offers the latest in knit technology, excellent for soft window treatments for retail, hospitality, and contract applications. Malta and Capri was a winner in the Textiles: Drapery category. Ornato, which won an Honorable Mention in the Textiles: Drapery category, is a high-tech laser-cut fabric.

Founded in 1950, Carnegie is acclaimed for developing Xorel, a line of environmentally-friendly textiles engineered for high traffic areas. The innovative collection is part of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum’s permanent collection.
