In Monterrey, Mexico, a new 40-story, 750,000-square-foot mixed-use building is on track to be the tallest tower in the city and the fourth tallest tower in the country. After a highly-competitive design competition, HOK Mexico was selected to spearhead the design.
The building will include 116 apartments on 30 floors and 1,200 parking spaces. Eleven floors will be used for office and retail space. HOK Mexico conceived an abstract sculpture with a high-tech glass façade, which will be illuminated at night. Although several green features are included in the design, the project is not yet officially striving for LEED Certification through the U.S. Green Building Council. Among sustainable features in the works are rainwater collection, storage and re-use for irrigation and toilet flushing, low-flow plumbing fixtures and waterless urinals, maximum daylighting, and a raised floor system.
Completion is slated for 2009.
We would love your feedback!
