Staff -- Interior Design, 11/17/2006 12:00:00 AM

One of the oldest design awards programs in the circuit, Germany’s Red Dot Award: Product Design competition is making its 53rd call for entries. Designers and entrepreneurs from all around the globe are invited to submit industrial design products to the contest, which will be judged by an international jury. Categories include lighting and rugs, and new this year, computers and accessories.

Industrially manufactured products that have been launched during the past two years or will be launched by July 1, 2007 are eligible for submission. Entries must be submitted by January 19, 2007. Entry fees and other details are available online

An awards presentation will be held June 25, 2007 in the Aalto Theatre in Essen, Germany. The Red Dot Design Museum, also located in Essen, will then host a special exhibition showcasing the winning products from June 26 to July 23, 2007. Following that show, the award-winning products will also be exhibited for at least one year in the Red Dot museum’s location on the premises of the UNESCO world cultural heritage site in nearby Zollverein, Germany.
