Manufacturer Invista Unveils Green Showroom at NeoCon

The space is designed by Chicago-based Design Collaboratives.

Mairi Beautyman -- Interior Design, 6/5/2008 12:00:00 AM

Carpet fiber manufacturer Invista -- of the Antron brand -- has a fresh new green showroom, just in time for furnishings event NeoCon World's Trade Fair in Chicago. Design Collaboratives is responsible for the eco-friendly design of the Merchandise Mart space, expected to land LEED for Commercial Interiors from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The showroom incorporates both sustainable and repurposed materials (some over 20 years old). Repurposed examples include glass space dividers, 600 feet of millwork surfacing, and a few pieces of furniture. Accent lighting is LED to reduce energy consumption, paints and adhesives are VOC-free, and appliances are Energy Star-certified.

To showcase products, the design team conceived a carpet system highlighting up to 176 samples, a color wheel with an in-depth look at the science behind the ANTRON Lumena® solution dyed nylon color line, and custom-designed floor carpet highlighting

"The space brings our brand to life, allowing us to showcase an abundance of mill carpet styles and a host of experiential opportunities, at the same time minimizing waste and improving energy efficiency," says Melissa Noebes, Antron brand manager. "By personalizing the Antron brand through its ever-evolving dimensions of aesthetics, performance and sustainability, the showroom will become a great place to learn, play and find inspiration."
