Kimball Office's green efforts on the road have caught the eye of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The office furniture manufacturer's transport fleet has earned SmartWay Certification for transportation initiatives that keep the environment in mind.
As a SmartWay Partner, Kimball Office can show off the SmartWay label, which was conceived to increase energy efficiency and slash greenhouse gases and air pollution in the freight industry. To earn the label, the firm demonstrated that Kimball Transit saves significant amounts of diesel fuel, reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 26.3 percent, cuts particulate matter by 22.5 percent, decreasing nitrogen oxides by 26 percent, when compared to a standard fleet.
The company’s score meets or exceeds the highest published score in the SmartWay program.
"To accomplish this certification and with such a high score speaks volumes about the hard work and commitment of our logistics team in implementing sustainable practices over the years," says Jeff Fenwick, vice president and general manager of Kimball Office.
As part of its company-wide sustainability commitment, Kimball office is dedicated to eliminating pollution generated at the source, use of renewable materials, and reclamation and recycling of materials to minimize adverse impact on the environment.
