Young Argentine designer Batti's oversize white-fiberglass Placentero chair owes heavy debt to Arne Jacobsen—and weighs in at nearly 100 pounds. The seat's leather comes in eight colors, including green and red. Another hefty piece is Mario Celi's Mesa Trunca table, each a one-of-a-kind. Cedar or pine slabs are set atop a frame of chromed steel or anodized aluminum; heights range from 14 inches to 25 inches. Robert Dudley Best created his height-adjustable BestLite lamp in 1930, but it wasn't until World War II that Sir Winston Churchill popularized it. A recent Scandinavian marketing effort launched a worldwide revival of the lamp, whose shade comes in chrome, black, and cream finishes. Apparently the Swedes know a thing or two about outdoor seating. Thomas Bernstrand's 6-foot-long weatherproof Goal benches (above) combine hot-dipped galvanized-steel frames with polyurethane-coated tubular-steel seats and backs in contrasting colors. Aluminum gables add a space-age element to Björn Dahlström's sculptural Park Lane bench (below). The seat and back come in teak, oak, or mahogany; the legs are steel. P.O.
