Cienporcientodiseño

Young Argentine designer Batti's oversize white-fiberglass Placentero chair owes heavy debt to Arne Jacobsen—and weighs in at nearly 100 pounds. The seat's leather comes in eight colors, including green and red. Another hefty piece is Mario Celi's Mesa Trunca table, each a one-of-a-kind. Cedar or pine slabs are set atop a frame of chromed steel or anodized aluminum; heights range from 14 inches to 25 inches. R. Randers

The four bolts and ergonomic hinged back of the company's best-selling Sala chair return in the Sala lounge armchair. Adding even more comfort, the lounge seat is roomier, lower, and fully upholstered. The frame and bolts are metal. A new coordinating bar stool is also offered. Robert Dudley Best created his height-adjustable BestLite lamp in 1930, but it wasn't until World War II that Sir Winston Churchill popularized it. A recent Scandinavian marketing effort launched a worldwide revival of the lamp, whose shade comes in chrome, black, and cream finishes. Studio Ilse

Londoner Ilse Crawford, known stateside for furnishing the New York outpost of the exclusive Soho House, debuts her 36-24-36 lamps. The shapely bases are turned rubber wood, shades are burlap, and the inspiration, says Crawford, was 17th-century English woodwork. Through Ferrious Limited, Arch 61, Whitworth Street West, Manchester M1 5WQ, United Kingdom; 44-161-228-6880. circle 348

Jocelyn Warner

This English designer turns over a new leaf with her latest Larger Than Life wall coverings. Warner digitally enhances scans of eucalyptus varieties, then prints them on matte or glossy backgrounds in shimmery metallic inks. Through Designtex, 200 Varick Street, New York, NY 10014; 800-221-1540; jocelynwarner.com. circle 350

Apparently the Swedes know a thing or two about outdoor seating. Thomas Bernstrand's 6-foot-long weatherproof Goal benches (above) combine hot-dipped galvanized-steel frames with polyurethane-coated tubular-steel seats and backs in contrasting colors. Aluminum gables add a space-age element to Björn Dahlström's sculptural Park Lane bench (below). The seat and back come in teak, oak, or mahogany; the legs are steel. P.O. Box 17701, s-11893 Stockholm, Sweden; 46-8-7021960; nola.se. circle 349
