Isamu Times Two

Isamu Noguchi shared more than his given name with designer Isamu Kenmochi. Their mid-century creative confluence lasted less than two years, but it produced an array of furniture, objects, drawings, and photographs that broke down the barriers between tradition and experimentation.
The Noguchi Museum in Long Island City, New York, explores this association in "Design: Isamu Noguchi and Isamu Kenmochi," an exhibition of 85 pieces highlighting the pair's collaborative efforts and individual accomplishments. September 19–March 16; 718-204-7088; noguchi.org.
