First Greenguard Certified Cribs

Q Collection only uses water-based, non-toxic materials and Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood.

Nicholas Tamarin -- Interior Design, 11/8/2007 12:00:00 AM

Solare cribQ Collection's newly-launched Q Collection Junior cribs, Solare, and Cielo, are the first and only cribs to be named Greenguard certified for indoor air quality. The furniture, fabric, and accessories manufacturer, which designs with the environment and human health in mind, achieved the approval from the Greenguard Environmental Institute for the line's low-VOC emissions.

The collection also includes changing tables, dressers, an armoire system, modular storage cubes, and stools--made, like the cribs--with water-based, non-toxic materials approved by toxicologists. Only Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood and wood sourced from responsibly managed forests within 150 miles of production are used. Additionally, the collection's bedding is made from 100 percent organic cotton with non-toxic dyes.

The company also boasts the only children's furniture and bedding line recommended by Healthy Child Healthy Word, a non-profit organization that promotes non-toxic and environmentally-friendly products for children. Packaging for all of the products is made with renewable and biodegradable materials and one percent of all sales are donated to non-profits dedicated to children's environmental health. Q Collection’s advisory board includes leading figures in the environmental health field, among them the Harvard School of Health and the Global Environment's Dr. Eric Chivian, a past Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Solare bookshelf and base"Some things in life you just can’t avoid. But we’re happy to say that bringing unhealthy glues, dyes, and wood finishes into your child’s room is no longer one of them,” says Q Collection co-founder Jesse Johnson.
