Through July 29th, the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. presents Cy Twombly: The Sculpture, the first major survey of the artist's three-dimensional pieces. The 60 wood-and-plaster works on view—completed in two creative phases between 1948 and 1998—display the formal vocabulary, archaic motifs, and themes of ritual and warfare characteristic of Twombly's abstract paintings.
The museum is located at Fourth Street and Constitution Avenue. For information, call (202) 737-4215 or visit www.nga.gov.
