When it comes to sustainability, Interface continues to prove its leadership. The carpet manufacturer has made a major purchase from Native Energy, a national marketer of renewable energy credits, or "green tags," for its Cool Carpet program.
NativeEnergy, an American Indian majority-owned organization, offers individuals and organizations a means to compensate for their global warming pollution through renewable energy projects.
Through the alliance, Interface will add an estimated 33,000 tons of emission reduction credits (ERCs) to its existing portfolio of projects. These credits are intended to offset the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions associated with the manufacturer's Cool Carpet products. Raw materials, manufacturing, transportation, and customer use all produce CO2.
Interface will support Midwest wind farms and family-owned dairy farms in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. One such farm--the Schrack Family Farm--has been in operation since the American Revolution.
To date, Interface's ERC purchases are equivalent to 54,000 cars not driven for a year, or 28 million gallons of unconsumed gas.
We would love your feedback!
