Hariri & Hariri Architecture
POOL HOUSE, WILTON, CONNECTICUT
Annie Block -- Interior Design, 12/1/2008 12:00:00 AM

The pavilion style that's become the signature of sisters, architects, and Interior Design Hall of Fame members Gisue and Mojgan Hariri is on glorious display in this 1,200-square-foot pool house. Wrapped in a dramatic canopy of ipé slats, the simple rectangle of aluminum and glass—containing living, kitchen, and bar areas and a bathroom—appears to float over the new 20-by-48-foot swimming pool like a yacht. "It's warm, nautical, and sculptural at the same time," explains Mojgan Hariri. Hefty travertine slabs form the pool surround and the terrace, which the Hariris fitted with a fire pit. "It's an intimate space," Gisue Hariri notes. And the perfect spot for roasting marshmallows, even in the off-season.

standout The interiors of this 145-foot superyacht, Mark Zeff's second commission from Vikram Chatwal, have luxurious residential appointments such as walnut furnishings, leather upholstery, and a mahogany coffered ceiling; outside, the deck is finished in slender slabs of rare, old-growth plantation teak.

standout A parlor-level deck extends the residence's living area and has wide, "loungeable" steps down to a garden terrace, all rendered in ipé.

standout An exterior of cement-fiber panels in alternating green stripes gives way to an airy 880-square-foot interior with concrete-slab flooring and an entire wall of white-painted bookshelves.
