Points of View

Staff -- Interior Design, 11/1/2001 12:00:00 AM

Having studied philosophy at the University of Cambridge, furniture designer Mark Harvey has long been influenced by abstract ideas and has recently given some of them physical form in his installation Room with a View at the Elayne Jordan Collection showroom. Harvey explains that the "room" in the title refers to "conceptual architecture nominally represented in a collection of doors, walls, and objects, which are also its views." Accordingly, the installation features sculptures rather than furniture, ranging from panels as door fronts to vessels of combined blocks of wood. Through January 2002. The Elayne Jordan Collection, Pacific Design Center, 8687 Melrose Avenue, Suite G-676, Los Angeles, (310) 358-0433.
