In San Francisco, the whole month of September will be devoted to architecture enthusiasts. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) San Francisco Chapter will hold its third annual Architecture and the City, a celebration of the city’s built environment and design community, from September 1-30.
The city-wide event will include architectural tours, film screenings, exhibitions, and design lectures. On September 1, the event kicks off with a free opening night party, from 5:30-9:30pm at Zinc Details, 2410 California Street. RSVP via email at rsvp@aiasf.org or call 415-362-7397. The party includes a screening of homes showcased during the 2006 San Francisco Living: Home Tours weekend and a free product giveaway by Kartell.
Want to check out those legendary San Francisco homes? San Francisco Living: Home Tours Weekend will be held Sepember 16-17. Tours will span several neighborhoods and architectural styles including state-of-the-art single-family homes in Russian Hill, Noe Valley, and the Panhandle; architect/developer multi-family homes in Potrero Hill and South of Market; and an affordable housing development in the Tenderloin. Tickets are $50 one day (per person); $90 two days (per person); $65 day-of tickets purchased after September 15 (per person); 25% discount for AIA San Francisco, San Francisco Design Center and A+D Forum members, students, and groups of six or more.
