Design Trust for Public Space Holds Art and Design Auction in New York

Items on the auction block range from furnishings, to design objects, to art.

Mairi Beautyman -- Interior Design, 11/18/2008 12:00:00 AM

Looking to pick up one-of-a-kind art or design by some high-profile names? The Design Trust for Public Space will hold its seventh annual Art and Design Auction tomorrow, November 19, at New York's Milk Gallery. Sponsored in part by Interior Design, the event will be hosted by Interior Design editor-in-chief Cindy Allen, designer Kitty Hawks, and Stephen Maharam, of family-run textile manufacturer Maharam.

Works will come from both emerging and established artists and designers, among them: Donald Baechler, Maira Kalman, Louise Lawler, Mira Nakashima, and Ed Ruscha. Proceeds will benefit the Design Trust for Public Space, which strives to improve New York's parks, plazas, streets, and public buildings. The organization annually generates nearly one quarter of its operating funds at the event.

Milk Gallery is located at 450 West 15th Street. The event will run from 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., and will include cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Tickets ($200 each, $150 tax reduction) can be purchased online or by calling Leslie McBeth at 212-695-2432, extension 24. Visit Design Trust for an Auction preview.
