Trendway Panel System Earns Air Quality Stamp

To certify Choices, Data was drawn through small chamber testing and the product's individual components were analyzed.

A popular panel system from furniture manufacturer Trendway has picked up Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) Indoor Advantage certification. The label insures the established Choices panel system meets criteria for indoor air quality.

To earn the SCS label, which meets conformance with the emissions standards of both USGBC LEED-CI Credit EQ4.5 Option B (systems furniture and seating) and BIFMA X 7.1 low-emitting office furniture and seating, Choices underwent rigorous testing. Data was drawn through small chamber testing and the product's individual components were analyzed.

"This certification of our Choices product's environmental attributes is significant for Trendway because it's the first of several we hope to obtain in the future," notes Jim Dowling, Trendway environmental compliance administrator. "What is especially satisfying is that we didn't need to change anything about the product--these environmental qualities have been part of the product and our manufacturing right from the beginning."

SCS is an independent third-party certifier based in Emeryville, California.
