Here's this week's roundup of who’s doing what, where in the design community.

Effective November 5, Corey B. Brinkema is president of the Forest Stewardship Council-US, the U.S. arm of the non profit global standard developer for certification of sustainable, well-managed forests.

Swarovski U.S. Holding
, a subsidiary of Swarovski International Holding, has purchased 100 percent interest in crystal lighting manufacturer Schonbek Worldwide Lighting and all its affiliated companies. The terms of the deal were not released. Andrew Schonbek, president, and great grandson of founder Adolf Schonbek, will join Swarovski.

Mika Ihamuotila is president and CEO of Finnish textile and clothing company Marimekko Corporation, effective February 1, 2008. The firm also reports shareholder changes.

Furniture manufacturer Henredon, headquartered in High Point, North Carolina, will launch a new custom wood and upholstery division, called Bespoke, in 2008.

Design Management Company, a full-service strategic management firm serving the home furnishings and design industry, with clients including Kravet and Kohler, has four new associates. Victor Pedraz is senior vice president of manufacturer services; Cameron Cook is media relations account manager; Rachel Leigh Ward is a publicist; and Russ Winer is art director.

Architecture firm Swanke Hayden Connell Architects has named Robert Vail Cole a principal of the firm. Cole is director of historic preservation.

Rug, bedding, and home furnishings manufacturer Company C has launched a program allowing qualifying interior designers to buy directly at a 30 percent discount. 

Retail design firm Chute Gerdeman Retail has four new staff members. Corey Dehus re-joins the firm as a senior designer on the brand communications team; Tami Thompson is program manager and designer for Hanesbrands; Jackie Trexel is program director on the account management team; and Stephen Williams is manager of graphic production.

The U.S. Green Building Council has launched a new Web site, including a resource section designed to make LEED project credit templates more accessible.

Hardware manufacturer Hickory Hardware recently designed and installed 80 feet of cabinet hardware displays for the Home Depot's new Design Center pilot stores in Charlotte, North Carolina and Concord, California.

David Thompson is director of sales for Toronto-based Brigholme Interiors Group, Canada’s largest Haworth Preferred dealership.

Madeleine Grynsztejn is Pritzker director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (MCA), effective spring 2008. Currently at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Grynsztejn is the first woman to fill the leadership role at MCA.
 
Contract furnishings manufacturer HBF has teamed up with 20-20 Technologies to publish product offerings on the 20-20 Worksheet platform, which helps reduce errors and speed up specification processes.

General contracting, construction management, and consulting firm Mackenzie Keck, has purchased green building consulting firm Global Thinking. The firm will be head up by consultant and architect Frank Sherman, who is now a vice president.

Jody Jaraczewski joins full service office furniture dealership Spaces, an Allsteel dealer, to focus on business development.
