Edelman Leather, the standard bearer of the leather upholstery biz, is starting the summer off with a bang, opening their 11th showroom, in Denver's design district.
The second generation family business isn't stopping there either. Ignoring the current economic climate, the Connecticut-based company is also opening their first showroom outside of the United States—in London—at the beginning of July.
The 1000-square-foot Denver space is literally covered in the company's trademark animal hides, from its exterior façade to the walls and flooring inside. Barbara Rynn will serve as the showroom's manager while Ashley Pruchnic will manage outside sales. The duo will be handling some 750 options for custom coloring cowhide and calfskin, all Greenguard indoor air quality certified. A selection of leathers featuring Crypton's stain, spill, odor, and bacterial resistance is also available.
The legendary company was founded in the 1950's by husband-and-wife team Teddy and Arthur Edelman. Along with the firm's graphic designer and family friend Andy Warhol, the couple became one of the leading sources of leather for the fashion industry. The pair sold their fashion supply business in 1989 to focus on upholstery, a business that is still run by their son and company president, John Edelman.
