Martin Pierce Furnishings

England's hedgerows keep people off one's property, but the Hedgerow conference table invites folks to pull up a chair and interact. Measuring 12 feet long by 5 feet wide and standing 30 inches high, the tabletop holds an intricate marquetry design composed of olive burl, imbuya burl, and wengé. Newman Studio

The Linea console is so minimal, its detailing is an absence of material. Part of the company's new dHome line of metal residential furnishings, the pieces are made of powder-coated laser-cut steel and are available in six colors. Desu Design

The Deep sideboard is no wallflower, with quartered-walnut veneer covering its top, bottom, sides, and even back. The Abaca Concave Convex tables might look like blocks of wood, but close inspection reveals a woven appearance. Abaca, cousin to the banana plant, is spun into fine-gauge rope, inlaid over a wood substrate, and then sealed in resin to create a distinctive and sturdy piece for resting objects or sitting upon. Martínez Otero

Though Huey Lewis coined the phrase back in the 1980's, Twist tables prove that it's still hip to be square. Cubic side cutouts form the legs. Arco

Like icons before it (Jackie O comes to mind), I-con is sleek and free of clutter. Designed by Michiel van der Kley, the desk integrates the user's computer setup, reroutes and conceals wires and cords, and provides one or two storage drawers. Bring touches of the outdoors in with the Topo table. The Corian surface features built-in planters that allow users to cultivate their own mini gardens. Customers select where to situate the planters, and then openings are cut to specification and outfitted with plastic inserts. Powder-coated steel legs round out the design. Celebrated designer Arik Levy created Geo low tables for Optimism, the company's premiere collection. Seemingly growing from the ground, Boboli is a sculptural table designed by Rodolfo Dordoni in both square and rectangular versions. Wang, Jinsheng's Studio

Inspired by the Erector set, the aptly titled Erector table toys with bare-bones construction styling and produces a decidedly grown-up result. The piece sports a cement-board top with polyurethane coating, bookshelf tracks on the frame (which can be painted red), and maple leg extensions, plus, true to the toy's aesthetic, exposed bolts, nuts, and screws. Sturdy and practical, with smart design details, the M2 table, with its steel base and laminate top, comes in rectangular, round, and square versions.
