Mirra, Mirra

With executives snug and smug in their Aeron chairs, Herman Miller set its design sights on the mid-price market. Four years of research and development have yielded Mirra. Created in collaboration with Studio 7.5 Berlin, the chair performs well, looks sharp, and is environmentally and ergonomically sound. It features both passive and active seating adjustments. Of particular note is the supple one-piece molded-polypropylene backrest, whose built-in flex zones are designed to support sitters of any shape and size. Available in two finishes, with 10 colors for the seat and eight for the back.

Geiger International

David Allan Pesso and the Geiger Design Group collaborated on the Marin Lounge collection, which successfully recalls some of Geiger's mid-century offerings. Thanks to a gracefully arched cast-aluminum leg, the chair, bench, ottoman, credenzas, love seats, and sofas strike an architecturally elegant note in reception areas and conference settings.

Dutch designer Petra Blaisse knows no boundaries. The founder of Inside Outside—a firm that interweaves architecture and landscape—and a pioneer in the realms of textile and exhibition design, Blaisse now pushes the wallpaper envelope. The layered three-dimensionality of her Touch collection challenges the very notion of wall-ness. Some of the designs appear illuminated; all are taken from photographs of soft materials, such as felt and wool rope, and printed on type II vinyl.

Innovations Textiles

For more than 20 years, this company has produced wallpapers worth noting—winning seven Best of NeoCon awards along the way. More recently, Innovations launched a line of specialty fabrics suitable for both contract and residential applications. According to designer Fumiaki Odaka, the products are "fresh, clean, and elegant, with colors that coordinate with our extensive wall-covering collections." The Natural Wovens series fits his description. Made of cellulose and cotton, these products offer an airy look that's just right for upholstery.

Haworth

This company has definitely dusted off and spruced up, embracing cleaner lines and new materials. The Moxie furniture system is both elegant and practical. We like the visual intrigue of the translucent dividers, plus such home-inspired details as circular lamp shades. Hello Scooter , part of a larger collection of seating, offers a funky mobile perch. Oversize castors and curvilinear forms add oomph.

A fused steel frame is at the heart of Ride's synchro-tilting mechanism, which helps the chair glide smoothly back and forth. Gearshiftlike controls make for easy adjusting.

Maharam

Panting for the next generation of Action fabrics? Your wait is over. Six new three-dimensional polyester knits endow superior performance with the casual aesthetic of fashion-forward sportswear. Thanks to a two-way stretch, they cling in all the right places.

ShawTek

Among the 26 patterns in the Space Matters collection, Every Which Way offers superb performance and styling suitable for offices, conference rooms, lobbies, classrooms, and shops. Available in two yarn systems, including a cradle-to-cradle recyclable option.
