Trendway Corporation Earns Air Quality Certification

The certification covers products normally found in an indoor environment.

Mairi Beautyman -- Interior Design, 11/16/2007 12:00:00 AM

Furniture manufacturer Trendway Corporation has landed Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) Indoor Advantage certification for three product lines: Choices and Intrinsic filing and storage systems and C-Ped storage pedestals. The certification insures the products do not emit harmful gasses into an indoor environment.

Each product passed an extensive review--including small chamber testing, which allows the analysis of individual product components.

In addition to Indoor Advantage, SCS has three other indoor air quality certification programs: Indoor Advantage Gold, FloorScore, and No Added Formaldehyde. Products covered include furniture systems, seating, and components, hard surface flooring, paint, wall coverings, casework, and insulation.

The Indoor Advantage certification insures Choices, Intrinsic, and C-Ped meet emissions standards for the following:

BIFMA Furniture Emissions Standards M7.1 and X7.1.

Indoor Air Quality emissions criteria (EQ 4.5) for building products as specified in the USGBC Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating Systems.

ISO Type 1 (14024) and Type 2 (14021) environmental labeling and declaration requirements.

Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Guides for the Use of Environmental Marketing Claims.

"We continue to earn the Indoor Advantage certification for our various product lines," says Bill Bundy, Trendway president. "We now have a significant selection of our offerings that meet a high level of environmental quality, and we expect to add more Trendway product families to this distinguished certification in the near future."

Headquartered in Emeryville, California, SCS is an independent third-party certifier.
