On the Move

Here's this week's roundup of who’s doing what, where in the design community.

Vivian Manasc is the 2006 president of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. Manasc is architect and principal of Manasc Isaac Architects, a leader in cold-climate sustainable design in Canada. Kiyoshi Matsuzaki is first vice president and president-elect. Yves Gosselin is immediate past-president.

Office products buying group Is Group has elected three dealer members to its board of directors, to serve three-year terms: Mark Miller, president of Eakes Office Plus, Grand Island, NE; Maury Vockrodt, president of Office Systems, Watertown, South Dakota; and Bill Woosley, president of Cornette’s Office Products, Hopkinsville, Kentucky. The directors then elected four officers for 2006-2007: chairman Jordan Kudler, president of Crest Office Products, New York; vice chairman: Mark Miller, president of Eakes Office Plus, Grand Island, Nebraska; Treasurer: Craig Bartholomew, vice president of Reporter Big Sky Office, Billings, Montana; and secretary: Gerri Kennedy-Holland, vice president of OEC Office Plus, Mobile, Alabama.

Architecture firm Holabird & Root, and Henry Horn of Horn Design have joined forces to form Holabird & Root/Horn, an interior design-focused firm with architectural and engineering support. Horn is principal of the new firm and Michele Dremmer is director of interior design.

H. Thomas French, Jr., joins full-service architecture firm Cubellis Associates as principal, civil engineering.

Charles H. Boornazian is vice president of sales for NuVision, a Scottsdale, Arizona-based advanced HDTV manufacturer.

Edward Smith joins Italian door maker Lualdi Porte as head of U.S. sales.
