Toilets by Kohler Co. Earn EPA Label

The label is based on the EPA's Energy Star program.

The Sterling Stanton toliet.Eight toilets by bathroom manufacturer Kohler Co. have been stamped with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) new WaterSense label, recognizing efficient products. Conceived to guide consumers to a more environmentally-friendly choice, the label is based on the Energy Star program.

To earn the WaterSense label, a toilet must use at least 20 percent less water than the standard 1.6-gallon toilet, while still meeting strict flushing performance guidelines. More than one fourth of all water use comes from the toilet, and statistics suggest an average family of four uses about 400 gallons of water daily, Kohler reports.

The San Raphael Power Lite toilet.“The WaterSense label lets consumers know with certainty that they’re choosing products that use significantly less water, without having to worry whether those products will still perform well,” says Rob Zimmerman, senior staff engineer for Kohler’s water conservation initiatives.
