A growing number of organizations are turning to technology to spread design knowledge and appreciation. The latest is the MFA Design Department at School of Visual Arts, which now offers a free public online Podcast, the Designer as Author Podcast Series.
The Podcast features presentations by MFA design department staffers (such as Milton Glaser and Paola Antonelli), international guest speakers, and students. Participants, ranging from household names to emerging talents, address a broad range of topics, from book jackets to furniture trends. Current Podcasts include the Paul Rand Lecture Series, featuring Steven Heller who traces the history of graphic design; Student Coursework, a spotlight on MFA Designer as Author students, who show and discuss their course work; and Thesis Projects, highlighting MFA Designer as Author graduates and their thesis products.
