Schindler's Flats

edited by Craig Kellogg -- Interior Design, 7/1/2006 12:00:00 AM

In 1995, the Republic of Austria acquired Rudolph Schindler's Pearl M. Mackey apartments, built in Los Angeles in 1939. Phased renovations included an archive, a penthouse for guests, and four highly individualized live-work spaces. With an eye to the future, preservation architects Space International punched up Schindler's original palette with accent colors on his extensive built-ins.
