Starck Designs Duravit's First Kitchen Sink

The ceramic sinks accommodate all conventional tap fittings and are available in white, pergamon, anthracite, and chestnut brown.

Philippe Stark has redefined everything from hotels to juicers—and now he's throwing in the kitchen sink for Duravit. The legendary French designer has created Starck K, the first-ever sink collection for the equally iconic German bathroom-furnishings manufacturer.

The rectangular ceramic sink boasts large basins, extensive draining surfaces, and Starck's trademark sleek lines. The grooveless draining surface is countersunk while the walls of the basin protrude, creating a sink that is simultaneously standard and outstanding.

The sink comes in dimensions of 40 by 20 inches or 35 by 20 inches—allowing for large pots, pans, and even baking trays—and comes in four fadeless colors: white, pergamon, anthracite, and chestnut brown. The tap hole surface can accommodate all conventional tap fittings and the draining surface can be situated on the right or left of the basin as required. Cutting boards can be integrated to create working surfaces on two levels and the drain cover is not screwed into place so it can easily be removed for cleaning—unfortunately a task Starck still hasn't solved.
