ASID at 75

edited by Craig Kellogg -- Interior Design, 7/1/2006 12:00:00 AM

The Illinois chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers is celebrating three quarters of a century of success. Amid the economic wreckage of the Great Depression, professional clubs in cities such as Chicago, Pittsburgh, and New York carried the banner for decorators, and the American Institute of Interior Decorators was born in 1931 during a summit cohosted by furniture manufacturers in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Fast forward to 1975, when the fledgling ASID Illinois inherited the mission, members, and mailing list.

To commemorate that anniversary, a cocktail fund-raiser is taking place September 21 at Steelcase's showroom in the Merchandise Mart, Chicago.
