Green Theme for IIDEX/NeoCon Canada

Highlights include the Sustainable Condo Feature Exhibit, designed by Busby Perkins and Will Architects.

Mairi Beautyman -- Interior Design, 7/27/2006 12:00:00 AM

This year, sustainability is the theme for IIDEX/NeoCon Canada, Canada's largest trade-only exposition and conference for the design, construction and management of the built environment. To be held September 28-29 in the National Trade Centre at Exhibition Place in Toronto, the event will feature several green-themed events and initiatives.

Highlights include environmental keynote speaker, Rick Fedrizzi, founding chairman and current president and CEO of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Sustainable Condo Feature Exhibit. The latter, designed by Busby Perkins and Will Architects and owned by the EcoSmart Foundation, will be an interactive and cutting-edge showcase of the latest design and architectural products and technologies for sustainable construction.

The 2006 show also marks the beginning of a new green initiative of the conference itself, “Greening of IIDEX." For the next three years, organizers will work with green suppliers and contractors, with the intent to make the event Canada’s first green trade show. The initiative includes the creation of a carbon neutral show.

Also in the program roundup, the launch of LEED for Commercial Interiors in Canada by the Canada Green Building Council and Guided Green Walk Tours, led by LEED accredited professionals, highlighting products and exhibitors. Free registration for trade professionals is available online until September 15. After September 15, admission is $25.00.
