"Todd Eberle: Architectural Abstractions" showcases large-format close-ups of building elements—taken by a photographer better known for pointing his lens at art-world bigwigs and bevies of fashion models. (His portrait of Zaha Hadid bridges the celebrity-architecture gap.)

Organized by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Eberle's first solo exhibition focuses on his ability to spot the overlooked significance and beauty of details: The shapes and patterns of tiles, windows, and grilles fill the frame. Showstoppers include a Ludwig Mies van der Rohe elevator cab from his Lake Shore Drive apartments in Chicago, a powder room in a Philip Johnson house in Dallas, and seven mid-century projects by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.
