Staff -- Interior Design, 5/31/2006 12:00:00 AM

Création Baumann

Saphir, the new sheer drapery from this Swiss textile manufacturer, conjures visions of gossamer stirring gently over patios in tropical breezes. Made of Trevira CS, the translucent fabric shimmers as sun- or moonlight angles in. Available in 29 standard colors, it measures 118 inches wide. Through Carnegie, 110 North Centre Avenue, Rockville Center, NY 11570; 800-727-6770; carnegiefabrics.com. circle 407

Designtex

The Runway collection, not surprisingly, takes its cues from couture. Brooch (top) sports chenille medallions on a linen-like ground; Gabrielle references Coco Chanel's classic tweed suits; Sunday Shoes pays homage to patent-leather shoes; and Allure recalls brocade designs in formal dresses. Most of the line's polyester-blends come in at least five colors. 200 Varick Street, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10014; 800-221-1540; designtex.com. circle 408

Luna

Le Bon Côté ("the bright side") welcomes spring in style. Frolic's thin, irregular stripes of cheerful color pop against a calming ground, while Amuse cranks the volume with vivid regular stripes. Each comes in eight colorways. Another fabric in the line, Cheer, comes in 10 solid colors and can do outdoor duty. All are 54 inches wide. 2415 Third Street, Suite 280, San Francisco, CA 94107; 415-252-7125; lunatextiles.com. circle 409

Pollack

Hang Ten, a new reversible jacquard drapery, sports its horizontal stripes in Shell, Sand (shown), Surf, and Coral. Made from Trevira CS polyester, the Italian-made fabric is an extra-wide 1271/2 inches, with a pattern width of 118 inches. See you at the beach. 150 Varick Street, New York, NY 10013; 212-627-7766; pollackassociates.com. circle 410

Kova

The airy, finely textured Krystal Sheer collection can stand on its own or coordinate with the manufacturer's earlier, heavier Krystal Weave SatinFR line. Made by combining a proprietary polymer with vinyl-coated polyester yarns, the lighter sheers come in at a lower price point. They are 54 to 56 inches wide. 32 Union Square East, Suite 216, New York, NY 10003; 212-254-7591; kovatextiles.com. circle 412

Momentum

The Sonoma and Viva collections, two cubicle textiles and nine upholstery fabrics, emit an aura of stylish yet soothing harmony, perfect for healthcare and hospitality venues. The 72-inch-wide cubicle fabrics come in six colorways. The upholstery is hard-working Crypton; each fabric measures 54 inches wide and comes in at least six hues. Sonoma's colors include Blush, Lilac, and Linen, and Viva's include Beet, Maize, and Pesto. 17811 Fitch Street, Irvine, CA 92614; 800-366-6839; memosamples.com. circle 411

Architex

The Loft collection of five patterns in 43 colors embody hip urbanity. Sartoria and Bespoke evoke the crisp, impeccable cut and feel of fine men's suits; Pique and Berwick riff on embroidery and tweed. All the polyester-blend fabrics can take 50,000 double rubs. 3333 Commercial Avenue, Northbrook, IL 60062; 800-621-0827; architex-ljh.com. circle 413

Classic Cloth

The plaid pattern and rich, autumnal colors of Selkirk conjure cozy evenings by a crackling fire. The milled finish on the wool creates a luxurious fabric for upholstery or drapes. Available in three colorways: Heather, Thistle, and Bracken. Pass the brandy. 308 West Mill Street, Plainville, KS 67663; 785-434-7200; classicclothfabrics.com. circle 414

Rodolph

The colors of Sardinia—russet, Verde, espresso, and natural—vividly evoke the countryside for which the product is named. One of the manufacturer's new neutrals, the fabric-backed cork offers excellent wear for upholstery, and meets criteria for heavy-duty contract use with 100,000 Martindale rubs. P.O. Box 1249, 999 West Spain Street, Sonoma, CA 95476; 707-935-0316; rodolph.com. circle 415

Stacy Garcia

Find your center. Ohm and Shanti Stripe, part of the aptly named Tranquility collection, transport the viewer to quiet Asian gardens, while colorways like Ginger, Green Tea, Red Zinger, and Chamomile strike a balance between repose and exhilaration. The fabrics are printed on shantung-like slub texture containing a Poly-Avora blend. 504 Airport Executive Park, Nanuet, NY 10954; 845-426-0756; stacygarciainc.com. circle 417

Larsen

Gala, a line of luminous, delicate florals, would look just as appropriate in a prim teahouse as it would in a sophisticated boudoir. Measuring 60 inches, the wide silk-cotton blend comes in four lustrous colorways: pewter, aquamarine, Tea Leaf, and bronze. 111 Eighth Avenue, Suite 930, New York, NY 10011; 212-647-6900; cowtan.com. circle 418

Henry Calvin

Corsica Stripe Gauze's soft, muted colors are inspired by the sere landscapes and azure waters of the Mediterranean. Maharam

Dutch designer Tord Boontje has created three organically inspired polyester window coverings: Eternal Summer, Pressed Flowers, and Nectar. The latter two use a burn-out technique, with Nectar emphasizing a red-trimmed, pixilated botanical motif. Garrett Leather

Mosaic nubuck leather is as rich and complex in character as its name suggests, thanks to an intricately patterned design in applied stencil. Changes in the direction of the nap on the approximately 52-square-foot hides add another dimension, creating the illusion of light and dark areas on each hide. Offered in 12 new colors, including Pesto, Dune, Marble, and Mandarin. 1360 Niagara Street, Buffalo, NY 14213; 800-342-7738; garrettleather.com. circle 432

Victor Innovatex

In addition to impeccable Earth-friendly credentials (it's made with environmentally safe ingredients—no antimony, no PBTs, and no chlorine), Particule also happens to have a confident chic. The small-scale pattern and pinpoint surface textures of the 54-inch-wide fabric please the eye, while the fabric's makeup soothes the conscience. It's also safely and perpetually recyclable. 2805 90th Street, Saint Georges, Quebec G6A 1K1, Canada; 418-227-9897; victor-innovatex.com. circle 431

The new Al Fresco Stripes and Al Fresco Patterns boast a possible 101 colorful designs. Thanks to solution-dyed poly-olefin yarn, the fabric feels like cotton but endures like something much tougher. Sina Pearson

The words and imagery in Good Things and Wishes come directly from the minds of babes—second graders, to be precise. Pizza, dreams, family, love, vacations—these are the things these schoolkids came up with when asked what they thought would cheer up sick children. In polyester flat-woven Crypton, the 54-inch-wide fabric resists stains, moisture, mildew, and germs. Available in six colorways. 150 Varick Street, New York, NY 10013; 212-366-1146; sinapearson.com. circle 438

Madison Leathers

These natural European hides are dyed and finished by hand using special waxes that result in a delicate touch. The waxes give Calf Ariston a pulled-up effect when stretched, which will lighten the color slightly. But marks disappear with wear thanks to the natural oils in the finish. 979 Third Avenue, Suite 816, New York, NY 10022; 212-207-3304; madison leathers.com. circle 439

Barbara Beckmann
